Dear Friends,
I am grateful to all of you for reposing your trust in me and elevating me to this highest post of District Chairman of our prestigious district.
In all humility I accept this honour bestowed on me and I assure, to carry forward all my duties & responsibilities that come in its stride with commitment & devotion.
Our district is one of the prime districts, which has a history of having many dynamic chairmen in the past, who in their tenure have given us new standards of legendry.
I know it is difficult to match their performances but friends I will try my best to come up to the expectations of all of you and maintain the high traditions of our district.
With your cooperation and support I will strive not only to maintain the glory of our district, but try to keep the flag of district 314 flying high.
My agenda for the next year will be to promote family planning and welfare program and environment protection awareness.
I feel these two issues are interconnected. As population and demand for natural resources continue to grow, environmental limits will become increasingly apparent.
Water shortages are expected to affect nearly 3 billion people in 2025. Slowing population growth would help improve living standards and would buy time to protect natural resources.
If people continue to ignore the overpopulation problem and its adverse effects; then they will be trapped in a downward spiral that may well lead to the end of civilization in the near future.
The World Bank has noted that the Family planning programs played a key role in stabilizing population growth and improved family welfare.
When family planning information and services are widely available and accessible, couples even in adverse circumstance like low incomes, limited education are better able to achieve their fertility desires.
Since illiteracy, ignorance, religion, male pride, communal statuses are some of the major social variables that affect birth control in our country , it is essential to promote awareness about population growth and its bad effects on environment in people, especially amongst the underprivileged staying in slums.
I strongly feel that Organizations like us should do something to recover the situation which will be our small contribution to the mankind.
So I would appeal to the clubs to create awareness in people about family welfare and environment protection by organizing seminars, road shows and various competitions in villages, slum areas, municipal schools etc.
You may find it little difficult but you can take help of other NGOs. We will do our best to bring some positive changes in the society and our collective efforts will certainly help somewhere in some way.
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.
As I look ahead to the, many challenges the coming year will bring, I am counting on your support to achieve the goals I have planned.
Thanking you
Shubhlaxmi Chhapwale
